National Dental Association
The National Dental Association (NDA), based in Washington, D.C., is the largest dental organization representing dentists, dental students, dental hygienists and dental assistants of African American descent throughout the world. As the oldest and most prestigious association of people of color in the dental profession, the NDA is the leader in advancing their interests in the profession and in society. By providing scholarships and engaging in support programs, the NDA promotes dentistry as a viable profession among students of color. In addition, the NDA is dedicated to promoting access to oral health care by serving underserved and vulnerable populations. As both caregivers and citizens of the communities that its serves, the NDA’s members seek to improve the health of the underserved, eliminate disparities and promote health equity. The NDA actively supports efforts to enhance oral health literacy and to raise awareness of the importance of disease prevention.
Incorporated in 1913, the NDA is a 501(C)3 organization, comprised of 48 state and local chapters throughout the United States and the Caribbean. The NDA is the parent organization of the Student National Dental Association, National Dental Hygienists Association, National Dental Assistants Association and Auxiliary National Dental Association.
