California Dental Association

The California Dental Association is the nonprofit organization representing organized dentistry in California. Founded in 1870, CDA is committed to the success of our members in service to their patients and the public. CDA also contributes to the oral health of Californians through various comprehensive programs and advocacy. CDA’s membership consists of more than 25,000 dentists, making it the largest constituent of the American Dental Association.

Caries Management by Risk Assessment
A paradigm shift in dental practice occurred nearly 10 years ago, when the CDA Foundation, in partnership with the UCSF School of Dentistry, published evidence in the Journal of the California Dental Association that caries could be prevented and managed through risk assessment.

CDA Cares
CDA, the CDA Foundation and national partner America's Dentists Care Foundation, host CDA Cares, free dental clinics to provide oral health services and education for more than 1,500 patients at each event.

Perinatal Oral Health Guidelines
To bring clarity to the topic of whether dental treatment is safe during pregnancy for both mother and child, the Foundation created the Perinatal Oral Health Program. The resulting guidelines and educational resources give caregivers the confidence of best practices based on science.
